Package a coaching session clients can confidently book

Set a useful session outcome, define preparation and follow-up, and make your coaching offer easier to understand before a client pays.

“Book a consultation” leaves many questions unanswered. What will happen on the call? What should the client prepare? What do they receive afterwards? Clear boundaries make the offer easier to assess and the work easier to deliver.

Choose a task you can complete together

A focused session might review a freelance portfolio, clarify a service package or improve one sales page. “We will review your first three portfolio projects and identify the changes to make next” describes a process. “You will land a high-paying client after our call” promises an outcome beyond your control.

Define who the session is for. A beginner with no portfolio may need a different offer from a consultant with ten years of experience. Explaining the starting requirements can prevent an unsuitable purchase.

Write the package on one page

  • Purpose: the question or task you will work on.
  • Format: session length, meeting method and number of participants.
  • Preparation: what the client submits and when you need it.
  • Deliverable: a written action plan, annotated document or another specific output.
  • Follow-up: what is included, for how long and through which channel.
  • Scheduling: timezone, booking process and rescheduling arrangements.

An example of a scoped offer

“A 60-minute portfolio review for freelance designers with at least three completed projects. Send your portfolio link and target service before the call. We will review project selection, case-study clarity and your next three improvements. You receive a written action list and can send one follow-up question within seven days.”

This is an example, not a claim about a service available on the platform. Adapt the details to what you are qualified and equipped to deliver.

Keep the intake short

Ask what the client wants help with, what they have already tried and which relevant material you should review. Avoid collecting sensitive information that is unnecessary for the work. Tell the client how to share materials privately rather than asking them to post documents in a public group.

If scheduling is manual, say so: “After payment, you will receive the next steps for choosing an available time.” Do not imply instant calendar booking or a confirmed appointment unless your setup actually provides it.

Deliver a clear ending

Finish the session by agreeing the next actions, who owns them and a reasonable completion date. Send the promised summary through the channel you specified. Ask whether the client received the deliverable before suggesting another package.

Before publishing, have someone read your offer and explain what they expect to receive. If their version includes more sessions, unlimited messages or a guaranteed business result, tighten the wording. Clear scope is part of the product.
